I’ve had a place at lacupolis my whole life and have never ice fished walleyes up there. Was wondering if the Frontenac bite was typically early ice or a later bite? What about bay point harbor in red wing? Any info is valuable at this point. Thanks in advance!

Lots of shanties in the harbor area at Baypoint right now. Fishing there tends to be best right away at first ice and then as the ice begins to fall apart. With some sorting you can have a meal or two.

The latest report I saw was that the reactor at Prairie Island was back online and the power plant was operating at capacity again. The better ice that was noted at Frontenac earlier will maybe be one of the first places where that ice begins to get iffy in light of the power plant’s discharging more warmer water again. And too the warmer water will move fish up river towards the dam. I wouldn’t expect a lot at Frontenac.

I’d just pack the boat and head to Everts to fish the dam.

Thanks for the replies! I haven’t fished through the ice in the marina, but have found a lot of panfish in there in the open water season. Do some guys hit that spot?
