For the walleye fishermen who fishes pool 4 year round,

Do you winterize your outboard/boat or do you only perform the scheduled maintenance of oil change, gear lube, spark plugs etc…

I have a yamaha 50hp 4-stroke… Any answers, thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!

I do all the normal maintenance plus I add Stabil to the gas through the winter because normally it takes longer to go through a tank. Just need to make sure you drain the motor, bilge, live well… at the ramp when you leave.

I do all the regular maintence Gear, plugs, ect. I do not winterize because I use it all year and store it in a warm garage. I always start my motor when I leave to help get the water out (just for a minute) also don’t use livewells in the winter. Good luck !

…and don’t raise your motor out of the water while fishing in sub freezing temps.
