Never been to everts or pool 4, but I think I’m going to give it a try tomorrow. What time they open up for launching in the morning? How has the bite been this week?

I was down today for a BK slider. Ramps open and there are guys fishing!
November 23, 2013 at 6:45 pm #1366165Had a good time in the bait shop today!
No, the ramps weren’t too busy, but when I was heading to the bait shop at 5:45 there were two boats of deer hunters going out. I thought to myself…man, hurry up and get to the bait shop, it’s cold out here!!
The three boats out today, reported the bite….sucked. Maybe it was the wind that sucked but the bite wasn’t hot enough to keep them warmed in the cold wind. Right Andy?
From what I’ve hear, the bite Thursday and Friday was decent to great depending on who you were talking to. Today not so much. But that’s the river. It can change day to day and even hour to hour.
Derf stopped in today and was giving us some history on the resort that was South of Everts years ago.
I’ve always wondered why there was an artesian well by the pond in the back 40. Turns out that was drilled BY HAND over 100 years ago and is just under 600 feet deep.
It was used as a holding pond for fish that were going to market. Holding the fish caught in the summer by feeding them barley, would bring a higher price in the late fall.
Brian Hoffies stopped in to talk sports and drop off some jerky seasoning. We’re looking for a few people to try it out, give and honest report on how they like it AND bring some samples back to the resort. Just stop in to the resort. No emails, pm’s or phone calls please.
River Dan’s chili was gone by close tonight. I had way too much but it beats a Reeses Peanut Butter Cup!
Hopefully with the change of wind direction the bite will be better Sunday.
See ya then!

November 24, 2013 at 5:40 am #1366196I don’t think anyone notice, but I was running late to open the bait shop.
Battery was dead on the truck so I had to WALK to work this morning. Reminded me of by Dad walking to school in the 1920’s…. ‘cept I only had a block to walk.
November 24, 2013 at 5:58 am #1366198Two gentlemen and one young lady. She and I are wondering how they talked her into fishing this morning!

November 24, 2013 at 9:57 am #1366247Good post Jesse. It’s just one of those common sense things people overlook when they are in a hurry.
November 24, 2013 at 5:03 pm #1366336I would call today a success. Meeting BK sure was exciting! Great guy. He gave us some great info to start our search. Fished for about 4 hours, late morning, with 3 saugers (two good keepers) and my dad pulled in a 10lb flathead. Sure was cold though. Fighting some ice chunks at the beginning. Vertical jigging. 1/4-3/8 oz jigs and a mix of bfishn plastics. Oyster shell or something with a green tail brought in all 4 fish. If the gf is up for it we will be down there on Wednesday. Then up north to ice fish on the weekend! It’s gonna be a great thanksgiving week.
Thanks again Brian.
P.S. at first I was hesitant about trying the smoked oyster, but it was pretty good.November 24, 2013 at 6:24 pm #1366356Good to meet you guys!
Glad you had a good time.
You’ll have to swing in when the Spam is flying sometime if you think the smoked oysters are good! LOL!
