I am relatively new to the river this far south. I have had really great luck with casting cranks in the willows until this last weekend. Is this bite generally only when the water is high. I fished the river in Sartell for many years and seemed to have good luck in the timber most of the year.
    Thanks.

It’s a high water pattern… most of our willows will be completely out of the water at normal pool. Not a lot of walleye around under those conditions. But it’s sure fun while it lasts… and there’s still time to get in on it as the river falls slowly from it’s peak last week.

Cool, by Sunday the trolling bite could be really hot.

If we get some warm weather things will take off on a tear again. This cold front his slowed things a bit from where things were prior.
