Headed to Pepin this weekend, any suggestions on starting techniques or depths for some eyes or saugers? Gonna be based out of Lake City so I can move up or downstream if there are suggestions for up, down or middle as well. Thanks in advance for any suggestions or insight.

I am up at Everts every weekend and I have yet heard of a any “solid” reports, but one would think with these cooler temps the walleye fishing should start getting better soon.

There has been some that have searched out a limit tho, time on the water and not staying in one area too long should result in some fish.

I will out in search of them again this weekend, you cant catch them sitting at home,it should be a good weekend to be on the water weather wise.

I would think long lining or lead core would be a good starting technique, which area I cant help you with tho,the fish I have caught have been spread out through out different areas and depths (8-18 fow)

Thanks Jeff, I’m ready to long line or pull lead if they are deeper. Also contemplating Denver rigs.

    Thanks again,

There’s definitely fish to be caught. I’d start with finding some narrow(er) sections of river with some flow and troll them. I’d target 8 to 20 FOW to start. Working flats and trolling breaks. Once you find them stay on ’em till they quit biting then on to the next bunch. I would change lures frequently until I find something slaying ’em. The fish are there and they are hungry

Lake is not good right now…you can find walleyes up in the river…Denver rigs with #5 shad raps or flickers(purple tiger) with 5/16oz dropper in the back channel. don’t go as far up as Goose, stay in the deeper water 100yard stretch by the bend in the river…also there are fish by Young’s cabin, stay deeper, drag jigs from the dead stick to the green can..sunnies may be thick but the walleyes are there as well. Feeding windows are short so you may have to wait them out. We won our club tournament last weekend fishing those 2 spots, good luck!
