Could not think of a better way to spend fathers day. Hanging out on pool 2 with my boy. And a bunch of active walleyes.
It looks like a trolling bite might have started on pool 2. Where we found no active fish last last week we found fish this week. Trolling 5A bombers along the shorelines and current breaks produced today. The eyes where really hitting the light color bombers in the 8 to 12′ depths. They where holding on the shore lines that had alot of current breaks to them. Not many on major current breaks but if there was a area with alot of smaller breaks there where eyes.
No big fish for us today. Just plenty of 15″ to 18″ fish. and a few smaller saugers.
I think my 6 year old son out fished me today also. for awhile he could hardly get to 50′ on the line counter with out hooking up. Then the challange was to get him to stop laughing so hard and to real the fish in. What a blast.

Sounds like a great day with your boy Mike! I dream of doing the same thing in a couple years that you are doing now with your boy! Congrats and happy Father’s Day!

How is the water clarity where you were?

The MN is still spitting out alot of murky water. Even the channel that runs threw Fort Snelling park is spitting out alot of muddy water. Between that channel and the dam it is not to bad. We spent most of our time in this area.
Maybe on tuesday I might do some more exploring around South Saint Paul again.

Thought we better try it again tonight just to make sure the bite was not just a fluke. They where still there. I think my boys arms are about ready to fall off from hauling in fish. Hear is a photo I got of him on sunday. The fish he is holding is the standard size we are catching right now.

Perfect Mike!!! If don’t get my twins tickets sold this weekend, I’ll be fishing Pool 2 on Saturday.
