New to River fishing – Hitting P2 in AM – minnows?

I am fairly new to river fishing. I am going out on Pool 2 tomorrow launching at Hidden Falls. I see a lot of people on here are using jigs with some worm or leech threaded on and hitting wingdams but no mention of minnows. Are minnows not a very productive live bait for P2? Does anyone have much luck this time of year upriver of St, Paul? There are a few small wingdams up that way, but the significant wingdams are all downriver of St. Paul. Thanks.

The river is a little different up that way compared to the lower part. More flow and more gravel. If the minnows are not doing it maybe try long line trolling crankbaits. Put a little speed on them if needed. Over 2mph. Sometimes running those cranks down river can ge tthe picky biters going.

Got a feeling by tomorrow afternoon you will have plenty of boat company up that way.

Had decent luck on P2 today, especially earlier in the morning. Fished from about 7AM-1PM. Concentrated mostly on the mouth of Minnehaha Creek, the inside bend across from Minnehaha Creek, and the confluence of the Miss/Minn Rivers. Caught lots of small catfish and drum jigging with minnows. Also caught lots of smaller crappie (no size to them). Also caught one striped bass. No Walleye unfortunately.
