On the water at 10:30 am Friday after a two boat wait at public landing-trucks parked back to the overflow area. Some coming, some going. Fished 7 – 20 ft areas along the edges below the dam with jig and minnow. Lost what felt like a walleye, maybe 4 pounds, due to line break(6 lb) trying to keep it away from the timber. That got the blood flowing again in the spring. Few other bites and a nice crappie on a floating jig in 20 feet. Too nice out to work hard for a fish, just relaxed for the most part as still shaking the bugs out of brothers ‘new to him’ boat. Seen a few small fish caught along with one carp. Most were taken in the faster water near center of the stream. We lost a lot of minnows but didn’t appear to be fish, but then again, didn’t resort to stingers either, but who knows, probably was little ones. Off about 3:30 to avoid a landing rush if rain came. Everyone else appeared to have the same idea with 10+ boats waiting, so we took the high bank launch out with no wait-stay to the north of ramp, downstream side broken off. Second trip this year with similiar results-good time.

We also went Friday AM.Had good luck next to the rocks up by the dam.Lost one really nice one.Not sure what it was but it was doing it’s best ring around the crestliner.LOL. Caught a good number of fish 1/2 being keepable sauger and an occational Walleye mixed in but were all females. I was using just a plain Chart. Twister not tipped and my brother was using one tipped and caught the same amount. Oh yeah , caught one really nice sauger on a RingWorm. Those guy’s are’nt kidding when they say the slam them. Fishing seemed to be better earlier in the day, we started at the dam at 6:30 a.m. to beat the crowds. We caught 5 saugers 3 walleyes between 15-19 inches in about hour and half. The walleyes were caught in 13-16 feet, sauger 20-25′, jig and minnow and hair jigs. After that we moved down river from spot to spot to avoid the crowds which was tough to do today and picked up smaller saugers here and there on jig/minnow, same depths. Fishing slowed after 10 am for us.
