Was excited to get back on P2 this evening as it has been a couple wks since I was last out on P2. I was happy to see my favorite trolling run start to get going. Took a while to figure out the speed, direction, color, size, depth, etc, etc…It wasn’t super fast action but the last few times out I never caught fish there so it was good to see it start happening; troll speed was 2.5 mph downstream and 1.5 mph upstream long lining flicker shads in ~13 to 14 FOW. I supsect it will only get better as the Summer and early Fall progress.
As the sun went down I casted the tips of WD’s. Using my new iPilot w/ spot lock was so easy and anytime I wanted to adjust my cast angle I could by just re-postioning the spot lock w/o having to use an anchor. I found that spending no more than 10 min per WD and hitting deep tips with a Bomber 6A was the ticket. Seemed like I got bit right away or I didn’t and moved on. A few times I re-postitioned the boat and casted at the WD from a different angle and that would trigger a strike.
All in all a great night to be out; big fish for the night was about 23″.
