Made it out with the wife as we both took the day off for a change. I suppose she wanted to see where I have been spending a couple days a week. The weather was chilly and we even got hit by three quick rain showers, one of them came down a bit hard. But the wife fared pretty well. Unfortunately, I forgot to throw some rain gear in the boat for her, so she ended up wearing my bibs and jacket and I got a bit wet. They say, “happy wife, happy life”

I can see some walleyes associating with the WDs a bit more. I am still working at getting my jig bite going, but finally ended up with two smallies an got two other hits on jigs; I would like to think were walleyes since they had hit the plastic twice before the big thunk, but I ended up losing them. My cranking has still been going well and that is how I am getting all my fish. Red fire tiger and rainbow-colored shads are fooling the fish. Most takes are around the WDs, but not necessarily on them or right in front…finding the areas where the current is the right speed and broken up by a few wing dams seems to be the best areas.

Within two minutes, the wife hooked into the best of the day, nearly a 25.5″er, but it was fun as she thought she was hooked up on a WD as the drag consistently went out, but then the head shaking started. The temps are getting me excited for fall fishing.

These cool mornings really have me thinking about the pool 2 get together.

Didnt make it out on pool 2 this last week or weekend so its good to hear some reports from down there. Did manage to get in a quick trip yesterday on the Mississippi river north of aitkin. Think that cold front had those fish up there in a bit of a funk to.

I fished sunday and noticed a big change in water temp. Last sunday it was 81 degrees, and yesterday the water was 71 to start the day. Found a few wingdams holding fish along with rocky shorelines and other main channel rocks. Even though it wasn’t that warm there sure was a lot of boat traffic. Pitching cranks and bait worked well along with trolling. Last and biggest fish crushed a jig n leech. She was 26.5 inches and hit like a fall walleye crunching a plastic. That was a fun way to end to the end day. Finally caught a few bigger white bass this trip which was nice too see.
