Dustin,
My buddy and I put-in at Hok-Si-La on Saturday morning and fished the little back water bay next to the ramp and picked up a 24″ walleye on a red/white daredevil. We then tried trolling Shad Raps and Walley Divers from Handsshaw down to Riley coulee in about 7-9′ but only caught a small sauger and a couple of sheepshead. The sandbar at the Riley coulee produced a lot of 12-15″ sauger at the top of the sharper dropoff using three-way rigs. We then trolled from Riley down to Kepler in 13-17′ using Reef Runners and picked up some more small saugers and sheepshead. We pitched jigs for smallies along the way but didn’t find any. This was the first time we’ve been to Pepin so don’t use us for a judgement on how good the bite was last weekend. Lots of boats were out fishing. The MN DNR checked us and said that boats south of Lake City were doing better than the boats farther upstream.
On Sunday I fished the Prescott area with my wife and had some decent action catching a walleye, sauger, smallies, white bass, and sheepshead. Mostly smaller fish but pretty steady action.
