I’m heading up to the Rainy River on 4/4 and was wondering if any of you other river rats are headed that way. If you are, let me know and we can share some stories. Last year we went up and the day we got there the Fork Rivers had just busted loose. Talk about a dangerous river. We ended up salvaging our trip with some slab crappies at Red Lake, but to me those hawg walleyes just can’t be beat. Hopefully this year will be a promisinf year!

Was up there about two weeks ago and did really well on the 3:30 to dark bite on the lake. We drove on at long point resort and set up in 10 to 18 ‘ and fished with any thing that was glow and held a good charge. Caught a lot of eyes and they are still going according to my buddy who lives up there. Afternoon bite out deep is spotty at best and would be better to use that time pike fishing w/tipups. The river has also been hit and miss. Out front of winter road river they have been catching eyes in 10 to 25’ shallower in the eve. of course. jigs and a minnow have been the ticket as long as they glow and are heavy enough to fish straight up and down, the current is running a little high.
