Ok… made ya look!… was out on pool 4 today….went up by the dam first… people were catching fish and we did too, it was kind of slow and jig and minnow started out being the best bet….. later in the afternoon however plastics seemed to kick in, and we caught nice fish on shads, ringworms and superdoos…. but the Doos were clearly the best for us….. just hold them up off the bottom and dont jig them… pretty soon.. *pow*….. chartruese was our most effective color, though orange (heads) was not bad either….. we also limited the boat with nice fish…. 17-19″….. all saugers…. did not see a keeper walleye caught… virtually all our fish were from the dam down to the Y…. nothing at the Y and very little at hay creek… we did not try any other spots….

ohhh.. and by the way… this was my first outing ever with SuperDoos… Hawger got me some out of the last shipment…… they work… as advertised.. just put em down and hold em… we got bit plenty…..

    they were working again today………

ALL our nice fish were taken on them… we did not take bait out with us….. fishing was pretty slow until we located them up above the Y…….

Well…. I got nothing on live bait….my walleye came on Super Do’s! I am hooked now too. I loved the new “Do’s Head Jig” cause it has the larger hook needed on a real small head. Though the fish were not shallow, I tried throwing it in the timber. I worked it through some real tough stuff… and never lost a jig…. great!

FYI….you guys, Everts Resort and Rivertown Sports both have Super Do’s and ringworms in stock now.

Your best price is to buy them from B-fish-N Tackle..

It works out to about 28 cents a piece or pretty close best deal around….And you can pick a bunch of colors…

I was curios about that price Greg just quoted…. especially since I need a TON more Chartreuse Pepper after this last weekend! B-Fish-N is selling them for $22/hundred…. or 22 cents piece.

I think Everts is selling super dos for 2/$1 and I figure river Town will come in right around that price range.

Hawger was down on the river on Saturday delivering do’s by boat! I’m NOT kidding! Now that’s service….!!

About the B-Fish-N pricing… I thought that’s what you were up to… but I need to restock so I thought maybe B-Fish-N made a “price adjustment” so I quick-clicked my way over to see if that was the case. Your math is right on…

Someone is going to have to come fishing with me and show me how they work!!

I still like the plain jig.

Hey Hawger, can you put a photo and some information on the Super Doo’s Jigs on the board so everyone can see what they are like? Thanks

That was a Hawger sighting on Pool 4! I thought so….

My biggest fish of the weekend, a 23.5″ sauger came on the chameleon ring worm, and a 22″ on a Berkley 3″ chartruese power minnow. I think the customers who fished with me will vouch for the fact that plastic took 4-1 fish over live bait. Their comfort factor was with the live stuff. But if you look at the strike percentage, and hook ups, plastic still came out on top. What I mean by that is, the amount of time that went by without a bite on either bait was the same. But the bigger fish, and better hook ups were on plastic. I had no Super Doos. Looks like I gotta get on that bandwagon too! By the way, Owner Darter Style hooks were great in the wind. Lower profile for getting to the bottom in the wind, and large hooks are GREAT! I would still go round if it is calm, but the darters were the ticket for me this weekend! We caught about 60+ fish Friday, but only about a dozen+ on Saturday.

Thanks Bill, I will gladly post a photo of the new Weedless Super Do’s Jig Head, and a discription also…. I call it the “Do’s Head” (for short) and I have seen nothing like it for fishing plastics.

This is a black button-head style jig that was designed espically for Super Do’s (and any other small plastic bait such as tube-skirts or ringworms). The new head features a special built Mustad hook with a 60 degree eye and special long and thin forged wire shank. A dual flexible (and adjustable) cable makes this new head totally weedless. This head provides superior hooking ability over any other type of head or combination hook and weight. This hook has a very wide open gap because of its extra lingth. Weights available now are 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 oz.

I like to adjust the weed guard to what I coined as, a “trigger-set”, by bending the cable slightly towards the hook point. I do this to make the weedguard less pronounced (as seen in this photo) and to reduce the amount of tention needed to collapse the weedguard…. and then seperate the two cables about 1/18 ” in order to provide greater protection from snags.

I threw this lure into heavy cover that consisted of large and small tree limbs at least fifty times on my trip to the river on Saturday…. and never lost a jig. And actually, I was realy giving it my best try to loose the lure! I like it in the black color as it simulates the pupil of an eye, to game fish…. and the Super Do’s body adds plenty enough of color to the lure.

Another reason that I am thrilled with this new design is that weeds do not gather at the jig head-knot area. Weeds slide right on past the head of the jig. I think it will work just great in regular lake type weeds and cabbage, cat-tails, lilly pads, and stick-ups also. I can not wait to get these on the weed and limb filled river / inlet at lake Tetonka…I have lost a ton of conventional jigs there.

    Swany,

I will have them on the B-Fish-N Tackle Co.site asap… Any size… 10 pack is $6.00 (+ $4.50 shipping… so I figure you’ll need to order several packs to make the shipping come out or a Kit of Do’s or Ringworms with).

I can have all one weight 1/16, 1/8, or 1/4 in a 10 pack or… mix the sizes!

Has anyone had any success using Northland spinners (the kind you attach to a jig) attached to one of the Darter style or any other style jig tipped with live bait or plastic? I have had success with this rig fishing shallow water and it might add some vibration and allow you to use a slightly heavier jig when using the shallow water “ringworm techniques”.

I use the Thumper’s a lot on jigs! Mainly with a chunck of crawler or minnow. The rubber “Arm” takes up a lot of room on the shaft of the hook when used with plastics. Ring worms have enough action on their own in my opinion. It works great with live stuff though!

It’s funny you brought this up today Hawger. I went out this evening to see if there is still a shallow dusk bite. I was rewarded with about 25-30 walleye, 5 of which were legal though. Anyway, I was using a “regular” 1/8 oz lead head and was missing lots of fish. I switched to the “Doo Head” and never missed another…..well maybe one. Point is, that when fish are biting short, that extra length of the doo head makes all the difference in the world. You just can’t find many jigs with that hook length in a 1/16 or 1/8 oz weight.
