Leader/snell line for bottom bouncers

Guys…what kind of line to you use for connecting your spinner/crawler harness to the bottom bouncer? (on the river). I have been using fluorocarbon; Vanish 10 pound. It seems to work ok, but thinking I might beef it up to 12 or 14 pound. I see most of the pre-bought spinners are about 14-pound. And…flourocarbon over mono always, right?

My main line is fireline braid; 14-pound (or maybe it’s 15), and I’m happy with that.

I’d bump that up to 14-17lb Flouro. Less line tangles, better abrasion resistance, and stronger line for pulling snags free. The increase in line diameter shouldn’t make a bit of difference if you’re running Flouro.

Thanks, Justin. You used Vanish at all? Seems pretty ‘stretchy’ to me – which I know you want some stretch on the snell line.

I use Seguar Invisix flouro much better than Vanish which seemed to make rigs vanish for me. And yes go with 15LB or 17Lb with floro . It was designed to allow you to use a higher strength line due to its clarity. If you want to use mono 12lb Maxima ultra green can’t be beat.

I’ve been using Seaguar Red Label 15# for a few years without any problems. Check out Jolly Roger Tackle. I believe you can buy the 2 hook snells and then add your own beads and blades.

You do NOT need flouro on the sippi river at all. Use 10lb Maxima Chameleon. Its the tuffest mono out there bar none!! It is made in Germany. Cabelas has it… …rrr

X2 with Randy I personally use 14 lb XT. Zero reason for floro on the river. It’s tough line but I feel mono gives better action

Slightly off topic guys but do you run that size line on slo death rigs. I have found that if I go over 8 pound test or so—-I can get 10 to work at times—-that it hampers my slo death rig spin. I use Vanish but I am going to give the stuff Randy recommends a try.
