I heard a rumor today, an hopefully it is just that. Is it true that the state of minnesota was saining walleye from the Mississippi river and relocating them to the northern lakes of Minnesota? I find this hard to believe, but could be true. Anyone?

Maybe experimental?? I know they take northern strains and stock em down south to see if they could get a little longevity on those reservoir eyes. Same concept maybe here, take some low down dirty and gritty city eyes and maybe put them in Mille Lacs. Walleyes will start forming gangs and start busting caps in all those SMB and Muskie that are stealing the food. And you don’t want to know what they would do with the netters…..

    OH! I hope they are!

    Christmas Lake first stop!!

That would put an end to pulling the plug on the road and all other AIS nonsense!

What ais isn’t in the Mississippi?

Oh, I spose they could bleach them first.

Thats the first thing that came to mind before. I know in Wisconsin they are tough on pulling your plug, the same as Minnesota, but I find it hard to believe that they would do that. Although, they do let these creatures called willowcats get netted up in northern minnesota and then get transferred to bait shops and then the river. Not really much of a difference in my mind I guess!

Sounds kind of bizzare to me they would do something like this…Can I ask where you heard this rumor??

How would they transport them from the Miss. all the way to Northern MN??

That would mean that Minnesota and Wisconsin DNR would have had to come to an agreement on handling anything on the boundry waters……yeah right!!!!

Speaking of AIS (not to highjack thread) There was a wash station at Lake Carlos State Park over Memorial weekend. I never seen it get used and it was only manned from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thought it was kind of funny cause most boats were in the water before 7 and out after 5. That was a sign of money well spent

Wisconsin, Minnesota, and Iowa release Walleyes from the Genoa Fish Hatchery that come from the Mississippi. I assume they are released into northern MN Lakes. White Earth and Red Lake Indians also purchase from Genoa.

In Wisconsin, you are required to pull the plug in your live well at the end of the day.

In Minnesota, (as I understand it) you are also required to pull the bilge plug, regardless of whether or not you have any water in the bilge.

Not so in Wisconsin, although you are required to drain all water from your boat.

Unlike Minnesota, I have not been able to find any rule or law that says Wisconsin boaters must pull there bilge plugs when leaving the water.
