Had a good day on Pepin today and almost had the lake to myself. Fished a 5 mile stretch on the WI side and only crossed paths with 3 or 4 other boats. Trolled the shoreline from 10 to 20 FOW and most fish were caught around the 16 FOW range. Found several nice size Walleye and Sauger but none over 20″ and a lot of fish under 15″. The larger fish were all caught near or on one of the many points that dot the WI side of Pepin with most of the smaller fish in between. Fished lead core, snap weights and hand line with all techniques producing at least a few fish. Best colors were natural colors with bright colors producing poorly. The Walleyes seemed to like the #7 sizes and the Saugers preferred the #5 size Rapalas.

Thanks for the report, Dale. How was the flow/water levels? Up pretty high or not too bad?

The water is up but on the lake you don’t really notice much of increase in the flow. Even with the water on the rise, the water clarity is still really good and there was little to no surface debris to deal with.

Great. Thanks! Now if it would only stop raining long enough…or I get brave enough to fish in the rain for a few hours. Heh.
