Walleye around the QC area

Anyone have some tips on current walleye fishing in p14, 15, and 16? Anyone doing any good? feel free to PM me, I can assure you I will tell NO ONE if that is what you wish. I just want to get on some fish. I have caught 3 walleye all year, usually by now I have hundreds landed. I’m not the only one falling behind, all the guys I know that are usually doing real good have caught very few or none this year.

We never saw them at the pre-spawn spots, never saw them on the beds, and now I have heard they are post spawn and my post spawn areas are producing nothing. Not even a snagged fish or little skinny 12″ male, its like they are all gone

Its not from lack of trying, I fish 4-5 days a week mornings and afternoons. I just dont understand it.. It makes me frustrated thinking I am doing something wrong.. but then I stop and think this is what I have done every year for 10 years and caught plenty of fish in the past. I even started using baits out of my comfort zone to try and get a hit.. cant even snag them with a blade!

Is anyone else having trouble catching fish or is it just me and the guys I know?

I haven’t been to the QC area personally but my brother said it’s been a terrible year for walleye in that section of the river. I’ve fished pools 8,9 and 10 and had very poor success compared to other years. The unstable weather patterns, cold water etc have made for a tough spring.

There is nothing wrong with the population in the QC area, they just are in a funk. When the weather stabalizes and water temps climb a little more, the bite will be on. When they were shocking in pool 14 this spring , the fish were loaded on the spawning grounds. We could see them on sonar , but you could not get them to bite. They are stacked up right now in traditional post spawn areas , but they bites are few and far between. In a few weeks the bite will be red hot and everyone will forget how poor this spring was. Don’t give up !

Shocking this spring in Pool 14 showed probably the best size structure of fish I’ve seen in 13 years of working the walleye hatchery. The number of 7-8 lb+ fish was rediculous. They’re there, give it a few weeks.
