Ok; so with all of the BS that I have had going on this spring: I figured I needed a break!

So I thought, why not head down to Everts and visit this BK fellow and revel in all the fun that is rumored to be going on down there.

So I strap myself in my brand new 1997 Hondo and head south. As I am bucking the wind and sizing up the 18 wheelers that are flying by me, TIME OUT: (those things are huge when looking out the window of a Honda!) OK I’m back now:

I start thinking about the upcoming Sturgeon Excursion, I am not really sure if this event is happening? But there surely are rumors going around about it. So I decide to hit Four Seasons Sports and pick me up some sturgeon gear.

Nice fellows down there, however I was not able to find everything that was on my list; (yea like I had a list), LOL! What I really have is a problem when it comes to buying all the new gadjets you can find in a bait shop, (my mind is wondering again), I find myself walking over to the minnow tanks, I don’t need any minnows but I have to go look at them anyways. Does anyone else have this problem?

All right now that I have all the no roll sinkers I can carry, I head up to the cashier to check out.

I should have known what the rest of my day was going to be like, after the kind fellow at the register puts all 8 lbs of my sinkers in a paper sandwich bag. I think the deer in the head lights look on my face, helped him realize how confused I was, and he politely grabbed a plastic bag for reinforcement.

Ok so now I am off to Everts again, I can pick up the rest of my gear down there right?

I’ll just talk to this BK feller, get some info on sturgeon gear shoot the BS and head on home.

PS: Just a side note here for those who chose to pass through the fine metropolis of Hagar City, WI. If you stop at the Border Bar, their hours are boldly posted on the side of the building, so do not pound on the door if they are closed, I found that out the hard way.

Back on the road to Everts, me and the new Honda are now barreling down the hill towards resort, the river is coming up fast but I am pretty sure we can slow down enough not to wreck anything. After safely coming to a rest at the base of a tree, I get out of my new ride and head towards the bait shop. As I am walking down the road I look ahead and see this large pink glow at first I thought it was some kind of new bobber, but as I drew closer I could see it was that BK feller I was looking for wearing a pink hoodie.

I walked up cautiously as I could see he was in a conversation with some dude in a pickup truck parked in the middle of the road, I could see them both watching my every move.

As I moved closer to the vehicle I could see it was Tim Miller. Now having read some of Tim’s posts I was pretty sure that I could approach safely. I extended a handshake and reintroduced myself to them both. I have met both before but thought it was the right thing to do after interrupting their conversation.

The conversation started out swiftly by turning to time tested man conversations, specifically about our old ladies, and fishing. Things were going along nicely, as we talked about how our ladies compared to each others and their views of all our manly conversations, it’s always fun to poke some humor at the FWs when they are not around. I am not sure of how Tim or BKs wives would react to reading this but I sure hope Jean does not get wind of it.

Anyhow the conversation turned back to fishing, sturgeon fishing that is, I was able to pry some knowledge out from under that catfish cap, when here comes two more IDOers I have never met before, Jeremy Liedberg, and shore fishing Guru Coley Crawler, very nice people indeed. Next comes Mrs. Trumar and then Mr. Trumar, I thought I had stumbled into an IDO GTG right here at Everts, and here we are, all these famous IDOers, standing here outside of BK’s riverside palace.

Well let me tell you what, that was the shortest GTG that I have ever been uninvited to.

I must have turned around, or blinked, or passed out, either that or I was waking up from a bad dream. Everyone is suddenly GONE!!!! Jeremy and I are the only ones left!! And he is shivering like a wet cat left outside in the middle of January.

It was time to go home, but first I had to hit the bait shop and pick up my Sturgeon Gear.

I walked in and lo and behold a there is room full of people. Is this, another GTG? Where did all these people come from? So it was with great assistance from everyone that was hiding in the bait shop that I was able to accomplish my Pre Sturgeon Excursion shopping spree.

With Steve keeping one eye on me and the other on the cash register, I promptly knocked over a rack of new rods, and then lit out of there before I caused any more damage.

    Dear Everts

Thanks for making my Saturday trip one to remember.

Jeff. It was so great to meet you. I refer to you as mr Huberty; the man who stood up for me

I didn’t know whether to hug or hi-5 ya.

Found out you live closer to your PB walleye spot than I thought.

Mr miller. Haha. DO APPROACH WITH CAUTION. he’s a shiester. With his bad boy giggles.

Yep it was cold and wet.

If the sturgeon excursion is going on this year I really wanna go. But no BK? What gives?

That was a fine desrciption of how things go at Evert’s. With the way I type I would have make that story about 6 chapters long.

Jeff, I think that was the longest non fishing post I have ever read and I read the whole thing. Now for the million dollar question , is there going to be a sturgeon excursion, and did you get all the tackle you needed? That BK guy does glow in pink doesn’t he?

I am currently spring cleaning out the cranium, as you can tell there is too much clutter going on up there.

The shelf is full, so to speak. When I put one thing on the shelf, something else falls off.

Heavins ta toothpicks I just noticed this morning that I posted a sturgeon report in a walleye forum.

How the HE!! does one move this into the proper forum.

I could tell there was more then a shelf full when I talked to you.

You guys missed the best part…the Monyon Automotive Bacon! When I opened up the package I KNEW it was going to be awesome!

That hog was fed sugar and apples.

PS Jeff, I’m glad you didn’t listen to those scaly fish dudes when picking out swivels.

Ahhh what the heck, looking back when posting was simply friendly good humor.

I would never call myself a regular at that bait shop, but I sure felt welcomed when I dropped inn.

Sure could use more of that these days. toast

Had grilled spam on the water a few weeks ago!
