How long will the big girls be hanging around p4? The weather seems more like March weather than April weather. I was thinking of another trip to Everts, but the weather looks ess than ideal the next couple of weeks. I can brave the elements for a shot at a big walleye. I don’t want to wait until it is too late to get back on the water.

    Thanks!

Females should be dropping eggs any day now. Males are Milking and the big females were dropping eggs while we were taking pictures of fish last weekend.

If I had to guess I would say you have a good solid week based on what I have seen. Im guessing and hoping it will be closer to 2 weeks but only the fish know that answer

Thank you for the replies. I thought I read on here that the amount of hours of daylight dictates when the spawn occurs. I was thinking the water temp would be warmer than it is. Is this year an abnormal year as far as water temps and the spawn?

You are correct…diurnal(daily) light is the main trigger for the spawn.

Water temp has little to do with it. We had milking males and females with loose eggs the last week of March.

They are spawning right now down in the 14-15-16 area. Females are moving out to the flats and males are on the spawning areas. Pre-spawn areas and shad holes are producing NOTHING at all, been that way for the last 4 days. They are done chasing shad and are on the beds.
