First the Sandhill Cranes then the Robins start showing up from their winter homes….

…but it’s not until just a few moments ago that the first sign of spring arrived on Pool 4!

ROBERTA TABOR arrived at Lock #3 at 13:56!

One of two tows heading up to Lock and Dam #3.

Time to get to work George!

I dont think central south dakota will be thinking spring. They are forcast to get up to 16 inches of snow tue/wed. We were there this past weekend. seen over a 1000 sandhill cranes migrating through. they sure have a one of a kind sound.

Never believe a guy with a dancing bacon avatar! Looks like the twin cities can end up with 8″ of snow! April fools month, instead of day I think.

    I don’t think that’s bacon.

Spam I’m guessing. You can always trust a dancing spam.

Hey now! Don’t shoot the messenger.

I’m just as ready for spring as the next guy. The boat is stuck in storage and the streams are probably going to be chocolate milk by next weekend for trout opener. I’m sorry for bringing your 1st barge thread down.

The Redwings sure are singing around the nature center. I have a feeling they might go silent for a few days.

    This is getting depressing.

Hang on Pug its just around the corner for you guys, just a matter of a week or two at most. I wet a line yesterday and nothing in faster shallow water, 4′ and shallower. Went to another spot and the water was crystal clear and the fish are moving slow swimming past, low 40’s for a water temp but a few catfish and sheepheads are being caught. Seen 3 diffrent insects on the water but don’t know what they were. No water spiders. One was light brown and winged its way across the water with most of its body right on the surface. Another was a small black round 1/8th” that was swimming circles. The last one was walking on the mud right next to the water. It won’t be long for you guys. Walked past a small pond and the frogs are really putting it out.

I miss living next to a pond with spring peeps. They don’t seem to care how cold it is. I bet they are chirping around here. Their chirps can be as soothing as they are deafening.
