I was watching the bait shop yesterday late morning with Erick comes flying in. Went directly over to the blades, pulled off 5 bright colored 1/4 ouncers (I think), paid and said “I’ll send you pictures”! Out the door he went.

    Pictures just arrived….

My buddy and I were just starting to get down a bit about our only trip here being this weekend… forecast keeps getting worse. Most are talking about a slow bite and on and on… Even if I can’t catch anything, knowing there are a couple in the river “somewhere” is a good thing. I’ll show this post to him… and first thing he’ll be doing Friday when we get there is buying blade baits – LOL, so guess Brian’s post works again.

Got me. I didn’t fish at all yesterday. Just stained my back leveling the camper.

I’m sure Erick will be around to answer the strategy questions.

It was a fun day to be out there…jumped in the boat with good friend Dusty Minke and Grizz177 and the day started out quick with 2 good fish in the boat before 8AM. Blade baits pitched onto shallow current breaks was the winning combo for the day with some dandy spring fat girls netted…..and to Grizz177 even a guy your age is still quick enough with the net when a fish comes unbuttoned boat side! He saved the day with our biggest fish making a break for it boat side and he made the blind sweap and got her in before swimming back into the depths of the river!

The tip is that when spawners are in shallow water and not agressively feeding, they can get annoyed at anything put in front of them, but the two needle sharp size 10 trebles on a small blade give you a higher hook up rate than a single hook on a jig…
    Nice fish Erick…

Nice job Erick. I need a video showing the right way to do this blade thing. I’ve been trying to figure them out for 4 years and can’t catch anything but carp with them.
