Well the winners did help put some wind in the air at the contest today.

In talking with the judges, all the Chili’s were great tasting, but they were assigned to choose the two top recipes.

    Drum Roll Please!

1st Place: Bob Smith (aka Farmer)
2nd Place: Danny Kahmann (aka Lurker)

Judges were from left to right:

Steve Weber (with little Jimmy to keep him honest)
Chappy (who gets the award for eating the most for judging)
George Mead (our favorite Lock and Dam operator.)

The photo is of the winning chili.

Most creative goes to Scottk’s kids for the catfish shaped bread that was perfect addition to any of the chili! Unfortunately there wasn’t a “cat”egory for that.

Kari did an outstanding job with the contest as always and I know the fishermen that stopped by appreciated the bowl of chili!

Nice job Kari on the Chili contest. Was glad to be a part of it. Missed not having my buddy Lenny there, But it was fun anyway. Sounded like a good time was had by all and no Tim, it wasn’t fixed!

It was a great time as always today!! Great to put a face with the name “Chappy”

P.S. Kari, I think the REAL winner should have been determined by the emptiest crockpot!!!

Oh, we had fun eating it too. The preparation was fun–the kids really enjoyed rolling out the bread walleyes and baking them today. Please help BK with that visual…WALLEYE. Thanks Jeff for clearing that up.

Good fun to watch chilled fisherman come off the water and come back to life with some hot chili. Many guys were stunned that we’d give them a few bowls.

That’s a show of Steve’s and Kari’s hospitality…come up with a fun event and make it a blessing to many.

    What’s next?

Oh yeah, the kids counted 70 trailers today at 2:45 PM in the parking lots. I guess it was more on Saturday.

Thank you to everyone at Everts and all the contestants in the chili cook off. Sure was nice to warm the belly with a hot bowl after coming off the water. I was expecting some form of SPAM chili but was informed a certain someone was disquailified for his entry. Winner was also my favorite.
