Every year we remind folks to check their registration on their boats. Having the wrong color, old decal stands out like a can of Spam in the mist of t-bone steaks.

Double checking your registration numbers will save you a few bucks…and you might want to ensure you walleyes are at least 15…maybe 15.25 inches to avoid problems there.

It’s that time of year when these boats and short walleyes are easy pickings for the CO’s.

With just a couple precautions you’ll enjoy a great time on the river!

Great post! Wish I had read this last year! W/ the 80 degree temps at this time last year, I was so excited to hit the river that I forgot about the registration & got nailed, only a $20 fine, but $90+ in “administrative fees”, it was a bit pricey for a stupid mistake on my part. On the bright side, after getting permission from the CO to fish that day, I did manage a PB walleye (and a few more $$ for the replica).

Most people measure walleye from the nose to the tail, ssuR measures them from the tail to the nose.

    Nice one Tony!!

Few years ago I was reminding everyone at the bait shop…then I was on my second trip out for the year when it hit me. Forgot to stick mine on! LOL!

CD? wouldn’t blaming the sheriff for a ticket be like blaming a pencil for spelling mistakes?

Thanks for the heads up. On a side note, are most of the wing dams in the areal marked on the Lakemaster chip?

Depends on which LM chip you have.

If you stop into Everts, they have a free paper map that they mark all the wing dams on.

This is especially true if you have Iowa stickers, Iowa boats always seem to be the first ones checked lol.

Some of the Co`s are great when checking our fish the one CO in there boat said to use my fish ruler. Just a heads up for you guys with fish measuring just over 15, there might be a discrepancy from ruler to ruler.

Father and young son had a crappy day today.

They were stopped by the Sheriff for expired tags.
They weren’t issued a ticket but told to get off the water until he gets to a computer and keeps the receipt in the boat until his tags come in the mail.

Well, 3 of us tried at the bait shop to enter in his info into the MN DMV website. Double checking the numbers a number of time. Couldn’t do it. Called the 800 number on the old registration and voice message said they were closed.

Felt kinda bad for the young guy that wanted to go fishing.
