Guys. I tried Sensation (6lb) last year for the first time for vertical jigging and it seemed to perform very well for me. Heck, even pulled in about a 15-pound northern on it – which, granted, is lucky on my part. But still. Anyway, I haven’t really used flourocarbon much other than for leaders here and there. Compared to Sensation, how would you rate a good fluorcarbon line? Do you guys who do use flourocarbon spool the whole reel with it? Or just use it as leader material (talking for vertical jigging or dragging jigs).

Sensation line question

I personally love sensation in the high vis green just respooled all my jigging/dragging rods with it friday night. Im using flourocarbon for all my leaders but know people who spool up with it religiously. I think line is more of a confidence/comfort thing for the angler. I mean certain teqniques do call for certain lines but i use the same stuff year in and year out. So i would say do what u have always done and do what is comfortable for you!

In the light weights I think the fluoro is tougher than the sensation but I think as line weight goes up so does the memory factor with fluoro so I’s be more inclined to say the your sensation is a better mono for jigging in the heavier weights….8 pound and up. I use the 6 pound vanish more for vertical jigging than any other line and love it.
February 18, 2013 at 8:25 pm #1143164Thanks, Nick. Just was curious. I did like the Sensation, just don’t have much experience with fluro. And speaking of angler confidence….I gotta say my greatest “value” discovery for budget line was Zebco Outcast. Guy at Fleet Farm recommended it. Dirt cheap (on sale for a buck for like 400 yards). I have it one one of my jigging rods and it’s pretty darn good. I like Sensation better, but for budget line/if you respool a lot, i was impressed.
February 18, 2013 at 8:26 pm #1143165Thanks, Tom. I just started trying Vanish last year for the leader on my spinner rigs. Seems to work pretty well. I haven’t tried it for jigging yet, though.

Best all round line I have used and stronger, less stretch and more abrasion resistant than Sensation. I use 8 lb as a leader with braid on my spinning gear, and either 12 or 15 lb on my baitcasters. Also like the fact that it is UV resistant so if my rods sit out all day during a week in Canada it does not deteriorate.

Agree with this. Also add that Sensation has about twice the strech as any floro out there. If you have not tried P-Line, give it a try.

February 18, 2013 at 11:13 pm #1143209Hmmmm. Seen a lot of guys talk about p line. Never tried it. 6lb? I will maybe try it.
February 18, 2013 at 11:22 pm #1143214P-Line has a 100% floro. I like the CXX stuff. It’s a copolymer coated floro. No stretch, casts well, low to no memory, very strong line. I would not say its the best cold water line, but great stuff in temps above say 45 degrees. I think you could say the same thing about most floro lines.

February 19, 2013 at 1:06 am #1143301For vertical jigging I have found no reason to use fluoro. Sensation orange is my new favorite, before that it was sensation clear. Its not as orange as one might think, but above the water it is very visible.

This is no bull, especially in the lighter weights.
nordPosts: 738February 19, 2013 at 2:30 pm #1143454Jon, have you ever tried the P-Line CX Premium. Much limper. I have just gotten into using P-Line. All I can say is wow!
