We got out in the snow storm Wed. night for a quick trip. We were gonna call it and then old Jamie hooks into this beauty. I ended up oufishing him 5 fish to 2, but both of his were slobs, having another like the one in the picture. My fish were from 2-6 pounds estimate. Didn’t get measurements on them, forgot the tape. I was catching them on yellow paddletails, but Jamie stuck with a moxie and the big fish seemed to show a real preference for it. We fished deeper breaks, couldn’t get much going up on the bank. Ice fishing sucks, I’m so glad the river offers open water opportunities in the winter

Exactly the reason I hardly Ice fish anymore, chasing fish like that is just way too much fun!

Whats really funny is once I started fishing the river, I don’t fish walleyes very often after the spawn, maybe a trip or two around the opener, but really now my “walleye season” is October – May.

Nice fish and photo, can’t wait to get out again one of these warmer evenings.

Were you guys draggin or pitchin?

    Might have already happened (temporarily)

We were casting our jigs for all our fish. Down at Red Wing I have had most of my luck dragging, other pools not so much….
