I talked Kari into watching to bait shop which allowed Steve a couple hours on the water with me.
No Chirp, I didn’t totally ruin him, he still likes scaly fish, but I was working on him. Stubborn sob.
The goal today was to get some video of whatever we came across. The rocks up by the first wing dam held the most and largest saugers we saw today. There were many places that I’ve seen fish before but held zip today.
There were somewhere around 20-25 boats out today, which made recording right down the middle of the river not very courteous at best.
When we finished with the cameras we slipped down stream into the wind for close to 30 minutes. That produce 2 saugers and a 14″ish walleye. Then it was time to head in.
OH! Darn near forgot. Steve caught a just shy from 15″ fish before we went in too.
One thing I did notice while watching a number of boats, they were jigging way too much. Find bottom, raise rod 2 to 4 inches and HOLD while you count to twenty. Then repeat.
The fish are there and if it wasn’t for my partner’s need to get his toes into his snugglebunny slippers to warm up we would be eating walleye tonight instead of cold left over Spam sandwiches.
One more warm day before we go back into the deep freeze.
Ps I think I spied old Lund85 out there.
