I would really like to make it down there for the first time on that ice. I keep hearing Frontenac and Maiden Rock.
I could use a little push and some more detail so I stand a chance if I go down there. Depth would be nice. Whether I can drive my truck or need to bring a wheeler? Appreciate any input. I promise I wont hog your spot.
I’ve only fished the ice down there once. Drove out from Maiden Rock to where no one was driving anymore and took the wheeler the rest of the way. We went straight across and set up in the current on the break along the MN side. Drilled holes till we marked fish and caught 16-18″ saugers the rest of the day.
I’d say you had a good day Jesse. If you caught saugers that size consistently for the whole day. Usually the bite is only a half hour to a hour at sunrise and sunset. With a few throughout the day. Except 03 that year was off the charts.
