Havent heard much about the old standard vertical jigging report from pool 2 this fall. Finely made a couple attempts at it this weekend and the results came pretty fast.
Started out Friday afternoon at the airport with just enough time before the sun hit the tree tops to make a quick jigging pass. Think I was still getting the trolling motor down and my line set up when Drew was bring the 1st fish to the surface. Picked up a couple more that pass and then it was time to move in shallower for low light bite.
Saturday afternoon Gary and I got out there a little earlier and again it didnt take long before a nice fat sauger was coming up. We picked up another 6 to 8 fish in the next hour and a half before moving in shallow again. Had a good mix of walleyes and sauger going.
For jigs it seemed to be just about anything we put down they would hit. Started out popping a couple on a hair jig. Then it was playing around with different color moxies and even a paddle tail which all got hit. Both vertical jigging and dragging those baits back up river took fish to.
Been telling myself for about a month now to go check this bite out and just finely got around to it. Looks like it may be a little late with the snow coming in today and cooler temps later this week. With any luck if the landing and channel doesnt freeze up the next warm day Ill be back checking on these fish again.
