Only 2 boats at 494 tonight, everyone must be scared off by the postings, or it’s just a cold Monday night and everyone is back to work. Even though the temps were down from the short-sleeve Saturday night, fish are still on structure and feeding well. Tonight it was simple lindy rigs with fatheads, though plastics on light jigs were doing just as well yesterday, black with chartruese tail worked, but dark was key rather than specific color. I’ve had most hits right on top of wingdams or right on the face, and the sunset hour is still the hottest for me. Walleye are not as frequent on our lines as really nice white bass and even some big crappie. Fishing alone or with the little one, so no pics, maybe that’s all for the best. Happy fishing as we move toward snow, I’d rather shovel snow off my boat than off my driveway. It was melted by the time I got home!

If you dont mind sharing how are you fishing lindy rigs on the dams? Are you just letting them sit or working them to try and keep from getting hung up in the rocks. Dont really fish minnows on the dams but have often thought about lighted bobber fishing after dark. Have done this on the croix and it works for both crappies and walleyes. About the only down side I would see is not getting to feel the fish slam those jigs but it might be a great approach for someone that is not into pitching.

I have brought a few guys out that have never done this before and you can use a bobber like trainning wheels. Bouy the tip of the dam. Set a 1/8 oz under a slip and adjust depth accordingly. Toss to the tip and slowly bump back across the top of the dam. After a few fish we ditch the bobber and away they go Done this twice last year with some luck but not the best way to do it. Good way to get there 1st fish in the boat without loosing every jig you have and plastics seem to work just fine

I’m working them over the rocks, a lot like pitching jigs. Sometimes I’ll use a plastic on the hook and do the same, I just happened to have some minnows with me and my hands were warm enough to feel like using them…
I usually direct tie jigs and pitch, but sometimes I’m feeling lazy and keep a snap swivel on with the lindy setup and switch leaders with my different bait choices.
