of your favorite river section right now.

With the low water, it’s a great time of year to find the “spring hot spots”.

It sure beats saying “I have to remember that spot”, then either completely forgetting about it or wondering about where it is come spring high water. GPS waypoints help too!

In your first picture if that log is not buried in to the rocks there’s a safe bet that with high water and swift current that log will no longer be there.

When I read the original plans, they were to be chained down. Not sure if there’s chains under that rock or not…guess we’ll have to wait and see.

There were a couple of those with cables on them. It was hard to tell though if the cables were holding the trunks in place or just in the rock. Couldn’t imagine though with cables there why they wouldn’t be attached to that stump and only in the rock. But what do I know…LOL.

Since that was over 2 years ago, it likely did say cables.

Good Idea BK, I did waypoints on most of those spots but didn’t think of taking pictures. Also thanks for the tips last Saturday. We caught 12 walleyes over 17″ and 2 crappie. All but 2 of the walleyes came on our Berkley Blades, other 2 came on hair jigs.Coming up to try again this weekend. Thanks again, Rick Dicus

    Hey Rick!

Welcome to the posting side of Ido!!

Well, I really can’t take the credit for those super secret spots. There was a tv show taken there.
    (inside joke)

Actually Steve let me know a few of the better locations. Did you get a chance to meet him? He wants to chat with you.

I just hope we get enough snow/rain this winter/spring to cover those treasures!

I recall this last spring when the water was so low and no snow cover. We were all talking about how low the water was…then..it rained.

I white knuckled it through two high water scares and parked my boat on the road 10 feet in front of my camper at Everts.

Someplace between here and Itasca there will be enough rain to cover those bad boys.

How much higher is the river in a typical spring? How deep will those logs be under the surface?

What the ‘ell is a typical spring?

The last two springs the water would have been 8+’ higher.

Last year Herb didn’t get out of his high waters until Sept.

Here’s a little more factual info.

From last springs numbers the tree would be covered by about 5 feet of water. Two springs ago, it would have been 8 feet.
