Yesterday, at the Dresbach lock myself and one other person caught 20 + white bass, and 30 + walleye and sauger. Saugers ran up to 14 inches, walleyes about the same. Setup was 6 pound mono, 1/4 oz. slip sinker, barrel swivel, #4 circle hook, 3 foot, 2 pound leader, 2 inch fathead minnow, and tail hooked the minnow. Lowered the weight to the bottom and raised it up 6 inches. 2 other boats along the wall, one using blade baits, one using rapala jigging raps, colors orange, yellow perch, & perch. The blade & rapala boats would occasionally boat a larger walleye, the saugers were all in the 12 to 14 inch range. Kept no fish in my boat. The fishing should only get better as the month of October progresses.

Thanks for the update. You might see Bret and I up there tomorrow but wherever we’ll be it will be away from Downtown and the parade . All those people, all that revelry and all that beer must steer clear.

Hoosier…. question, why use the slip sinker if you are raising it back up off the bottom? I don’t fish the area, just asking about the technique. I’ve only used them when letting some line go slack behind the weight when pulling it on the bottom.

    Thanks

For one it helps not getting line twists when fishing with a minnow in current. I use a swivel whether i’m fishing with a split shot or a slip sinker. On the bottom or off.

I had about 15 eyes/saugers today. With 5 being legal, two more legals lost boat side. About 30-40 Sheephead all on blades. All near the dam, but the fish are really scattered. Gotta keep moving and casting.

Sunday by the dam turned out to be a mixed bag kind of day . The walleyes and saugers were slow but managed to catch perch, stripped bass , catfish , stergeon and rounded off the day not to far from there with some gills and crappies. Looking forward for the white tip fishing to heat up with the cooler weather . Good luck out there everyone
