Lacupolis on Saturday

Headed out of the lacupolis landing Saturday. Figured my son and I would give it a try since we’d never fished that area before. The bluegills were biting. Nothing huge, but enough to keep my son interested and brought a few home for dinner. I caught one nice eye, and that was it for eyes. Plenty of sheepies, tough. After awhile the tuna boats came out and it was all we could do to hold on and not be swamped. Ugh. I think we’d fish that area again, but the launch was pretty bad actually. Full of holes/mounds making boat landing etc. pretty tricky. Any other launches nearby worth considering? Wabasha? Also, if anyone finds a Boy Scout hat in that area, my son lost his. Good luck, guys.

Wabasha has a very nice public access. Lots of parking if you get there early on the weekends.

A week ago the walleye fishing was tough as well. Nothing biting except the blue gills off the shoreline. There was a hatch of black mayflies that apparently was keeping the fish fed… Around noon when I returned to the Wabasha landing, I noted that everyone passing by me on Pepin ended up setting up at the outlet just above Reed’s landing.

Nice launch in Pepin, Wi. Have to have a boat that can handle the open water of Lake Pepin though.
