I was down at the 494 landing tuesday afternoon and the landing was very useable and ice-free I was just wondering if anybody was heading upriver with the warmup. Drove by Ford dam and things looked iced up pretty good towards the gates but starting to clear below the island…watch the bergs boys.

    POWERBAIT,

Last Sunday I took the afternoon and drove by a bunch of areas on the river to check out the conditions. At that time I noticed the hidden falls area down to the confluence to be semi-filled with floating/lodged ice. I would imagine this stuff moved pretty quickly by Monday. I was down fishing 494 on Tuesday and noticed alot of floating ice here as well, some floating down from up river and alot of dislodging ice from the 494 area north.

The 494 ramp is in great shape and no shelf ice whatsoever. A little heads up on the right side launch here though. Some one had thrown a good size rock into the center of the launch pad about 10 feet from shore. This just might make contact with your cross member on your trailer. I would have moved it, but it was too windy for myself to get it out via dredging, etc….

I should be able to move it by this weekend.

One last note, the Watergate marina is completely filled with ice. No signs of thaw here yet. This will give you an idea on some of the backwater conditions up there. They have all the docks and boats out of the marina and I believe the marina was dredged late last fall or going to be this spring. Maybe someone else has more info on this.
