Been out fishing pool 14 three times in the last week and have not caught a single walleye. Fished wing dams, trolled sloughs, fished live bait with no takers. The spring bite sucked and early summer bite is no good. What is going on with pool 14??? Anyone having any luck

Starting last week, been catching 10-20 a day. Mostly small saugers, but have gotten quite a few nice walleye.

They were a [censored] to find though, took me nearly a month to find them. Havent heard of a single other walleye caught on P14.

There is nothing wrong with the fish in pool 14 , they just are not where they normally are this time of year. They are very cooperative if you are on them. What you said you have been doing should be putting fish in the boat , just keep at it you will find em.

I’ll take your word for it! Water is way down at DAM 13, I had to back my trailer down to Mid Dock to float the boat..

It dropped all the way down the river, I talked to a corps guy at the 14 dam yesterday and he said they are trying to drop the river down 2.5′ more before july. The explanation he gave me was that they are working with the DNR to lower the river level so aquatic vegetation will grow in the backwaters. He said they are dropping it as far down as they can to where they can still maintain safe barge and recreational boat traffic.

No doubt after all the rain they got up north, all that water has to go somewhere. The corps project it to go up 0.9′ by the 3rd.

Looks like pool 16 is going to go up quite a bit.

Pool 14 is only projected to go up another 1.4′ as of right now.

Pretend your a bass fisherman and go out. As Jigfan said, they’re there. I had a 24.5″ push 7lbs on Monday. So thick I had to get a weight. Bass fishing buddy just texted me a pic of a 28″ he caught earlier this morning. All I’ll give away is big crankbaits, crankbaits, crankbaits….

    Pretty tough but doable.

Used a lindy rig on the tip of wing dams while anchored.

Mainly saughers in the washout areas using 2-4 inch fatheads. Tried worms. They work but catching a number of channel cats and sheepies.

I have been fishing up north in SE Wisconsin.

It seems the time spent driving to SE WI compensates for the time spent doing very little on the Miss landing no fish.

Went out today. Launched in Port Byron.
Fished wingdams on outside bends. To much current with river rising. finally ended up fishing break areas downstream from island adjacent to the channel. Went with lead jig only and worm combo. Did well. Caught about 12. My brother went shotgun. He did better than I. They liked this jig head color he made. Brown/dark green combination. I suppose it mimics crawdad. Ran out of crawlers. Image that!!
    Stay safe out there.
