Milt?

    Got into a pod of walleye today, kept a mess of 17-18″ers for dinner. I was amazed at how thick the fish were for being this time of year, post spawn with temps in the 80’s. When I went to clean them 3 of them were just packed full of milt. Not runny milt, but hard milt like you typically see in march.

    Did they not spawn this year, or already develop it for next year? Anyone else seeing this?

    I cleaned 2 20inchers in NW Wisconsin over the weekend and they were full of eggs still in skeins and not loose. Goofy temps may have confused some of the fish.

    Cleaned an 18″ sauger today that was packed full of milt. Probably 4-5 ounces of it.
