We all should appreciate the fishery we have.

With the possibility of moving away from the Mississippi I have been watching the forums report in areas of my potential new home.

I am seeing numerous reports of “good opener fishing” with many fisherman being excited about 1/2-full stringers of 13-15″ walleye.

Seeing what I would consider disappointing size fish, it really makes me reflect on how special Pool 2 – pool 8 really are.

I always laughed when my northern MN buddies would freak out knowing we throw 16-18″ sauger back looking for larger ones. I can say it has been a blast and I now know what I will be leaving behind.

    Wade,
The ‘ol Miss from north of Brainerd all the way down to west Ill, IS some very special water.
We are all blessed whether you are from MN or WI, there is lots of Special water to be had all around us, Great rivers and Great inland lakes.

Hope you are not moving too far.

Not far enough to inhibit a weekend fishing trip.
The in-laws still live in Rochester. I see a lot of visits in their future (especially during late March/early April).

I love that idea. “Honey, the guys on IDO say if I am going to be a lake fisherman I need a new boat since I bought the Skeeter for the river.”

    Think she’ll go for it?

Where are you moving to? There are great fisheries all throughout this great state from North to South. I agree the Missy river is a great system, but I am sure you will land on your feet somewhere. Unless you are moving to the concrete jungle.
