I fished the River on Friday with Brown Bear on IDO and the Lake by myself on Sunday. While getting a couple of PBs this spring,… I can not sustain a pattern. A good pattern a week ago on the River vanished with rising water that has gotten muddy by Friday. No walleyes or saugers for us on this day. It was too windy to make a run to the Lake.

I arrived at Hok si La on Sunday @ 8:00 am and was the 1st in the lot. That’s a new one for me. It was windy and raining but I was determined to fish. After a wet ride to the Wisonsin, I trolled shallow, deep and in between,..nada. I ran up to Maiden Rock and found the water full of debris and very muddy,…nada. Next was Long Point,..the wind was settling so tried trolling bait,…nada but I had a couple of bites but i never saw the fish. I headed south hoping to find clearer water. It worked,…the rods finally started going. I ended up with a limit of nice saugers for the frying pan and let several go along with just as many northerns. Fish were caught from 8-15 FOW with the shallower depths being better on this very dark day. Pearl shad raps on lead core worked the best.

I can fish again this Friday,…with all the rain and mud from recently tilled fields,…whatever pattern I found probably has already changed. But maybe that’s what makes it “fun” ???

I went out of Hoksila on Saturday. Mostly pulled some crawlers on b. bouncers just to see how that would work out. A few eaters, but it was pretty slow overall. Didn’t try Wisconsin side, though. Hopefully it turns on soon. Weren’t many people in the lot. Maybe 4 other trailers.
