My buddy Zac Benson and I have been hitting the river regularly all spring and his 12 year old brother has been on our a$$ that he wants to go with an catch one bigger than us. Well Saturday night after helping us catch bait we said the heck with it and told him to pack a lunch and get to bed for an early start. So 5AM we were off to pool 4 to work live bait rigs in several post spawn areas and we had quite a day with many species being caught along with some nice eaters. I noticed one rod in the holder though acting strange and went to inspect it and felt a distinct tap and told Blake to “get over here!” a couple minutes later we netted what might be one of the biggest post spawn river eyes I have ever had in my boat. The fish is one of the few “legit” 10 pound river walleyes just tipping the scale a hair over 10 pounds. Nice work Blake and congrats!
