Think its been a good month since my boat has seen pool 2. Got a early start down there this morning trying to get in some fishing time before the forecast-ed rains set in. Very nice morning on the river. Started out with just us, a few eagles and one lone barge heading south on the river.

Spent the morning trying some traditional spring spots off the main channel with a combination of jigs and crank baits. Didnt take to long to start finding a fish here and there. Think it was jigs/ crawlers that put the most eyes in the boat today but both plastics and cranks also took fish. Jumped around a half dozen spots this morning with finding a fish here and there on about half of them. Think our total by noon was about a dozen walleyes/saugers with a half dozen smallies mixed in.

Should be back down tomorrow afternoon to hit it again. Think tomorrows plan is to hit some wingdams and see if any larger fish is those areas.

Good luck to you guys that are getting out.

Good work Mike, I thought I saw your boat go by. Fished with my dad Saturday morning and only caught two walleyes working wingdams. We caught more smallies than anything which seemed kind of odd to me that they were on the wingdams already. Biggest eye was 23 inches and hit a paddle tail. The other hit a ringworm. Lost a bigger one boatside that hit a jig/minnow. Crawlers only produced catfish for me. The water is low, but the flows were up a bit from last week. I had 55 degrees for water temp in the channel.

Sunday afternoon wasnt to good for me. Ended up just hitting one wingdam. After that jumped around a couple of spots that should of been productive. With not much going on them I didnt stick around very long. Sure was plenty of people out yesterday afternoon.

I put the boat in at 494 yesterday for the first time this year. We did not find a very consistant bite at all, but did get this one to hit a crank.
It was fun to get out and give the new SI unit a work out.
