Fishing is about…

Always enjoy your days on the water, even if you do not catch the trophy you hoped for or a limit of fish in a few hours. Never loose sight of the beauty of God’s creation, the moving water, a darting swallow, a budding out maple tree on a sliver of a sand island where the current flows peacefully by, a soaring eagle, or a fat cumulus cloud painted over a blue sky. Life is too short to miss the big picture of what fishing is supposed to be about.

Can you tell I am not in a tourny this weekend!lol. You guys get the point though…

You are absolutely correct. Every time the bite is tough I make myself look around. Looking around and soaking in God’s amazing creation should be the FIRST thing we do. Sometimes hitting a trout stream with a fly rod or going to ML to pick on smallies brings me back to what fishing is really about. Being competitive is a good natural quality, but you can’t let it blur your vision of what really matters in your life.

that is exactly why i enjoy just boating with friends, as much as fishing.

getting 6-8 duckboats together and running around the river all day and night with a cooler, a bbq, friends, family and your dog, is just as enjoyable as any day fishing.

SO VERY TRUE — in fact our days on the water are numbered and when we reach those precious few remaining, at least we will have our memories and oh yes pictures..and beer LOL

My wife sent me the following this morning – great timing.

A child is a miracle. A breath is a miracle. The sky is a miracle. Our sight, our smell, our touch and taste is a miracle. The flowers are a miracle. The ocean is a miracle. The birds are a miracle. The universe is a miracle. The ant is a miracle. Just because we’ve become accustomed to all these things, doesn’t stop them from being miracles to be amazed at each new day. Open your eyes, smile, and be in awe… a miracle awaits you.

    Have a great day.

Yep, always have non-fishing friends ask what the heck you do when the fish don’t bite… Look at your surroundings and see what you normally don’t see in & into the water or the sky and all sorts of other places.

Great comments. I couldn’t agree more! I was just debating this sort of thing with a buddy of mine who didn’t want to join me on a river fishing outing cuz my previous outings hadn’t been too successful in the actual catching category.
