Pretty slow on upper P2 today. 2 walters and the first LM bass since I don’t know when. Cranks on current breaks. Coast guard came by with their pusher and barge, man does that thing throw a wake.

Heard the DNR was sitting in a pickup under the 494 bridge checking folks as they were on their way home.
Hope no one had their plugs in!
April 16, 2012 at 1:48 pm #1059287Looks like the river is going up a little over a foot in the next 3-4 days. Should get those fish staging up in more prodictable areas.

A guy I know drove up with his plug in and ended up getting a warning.
April 16, 2012 at 7:09 pm #1059468Really, it wasn’t. With my history dealing with Law Enforcement Officers, they would have shot me then given me a warning.
April 16, 2012 at 7:28 pm #1059481I brought live gills home from Croix last week in live well and didnt get caught. HAHA

Correct me if I am wrong but doesn’t the ST Croix have Zebra Mussels in it?
If so why would you not take the precautions required by the DNR to drain your live well?
April 17, 2012 at 5:05 am #1059629because he could take the fish home in his livewell and keep them alive, and then drain the water once he removes them from his boat. Might not be legal but it makes sense.

I understand why he wants to do it. What I do not understand is why anyone would take water from a river that has zebra mussels and trasport those waters.
Many storm sewers go directly to small lakes why take the chance. Take a look at the lakes with zebra mussel that the DNR has on its web sight there were a lot more than I thought and I am sure there will be more next year.
I am not sure how the water in the live well mentioned above gets drained but for every one correctly draining their livewell there will be someone draining it down the storm sever.
Yes the boat plug/live well/bait bucket rules are a pain in the ars but isn’t it our duty to do what we can by following a simple rule like draining a livewell.
Sorry for the rant but but our Family cabin is on a lake the is next to a lake with milfoil in it. Should not be long until someone transfers that over to our lake.
OK I am off my high soap box thanks for listening. Hopefully at least 1 person will agree and give me a +1.

I bet the creatures with feathers will deliver that milfoil 100000000 times faster than any boat!!!!!!!

This. Next water will be Croix again. I only bend the law when I believe I am not hurting anyone else that abides it.
The only unknown I must admit to is whether or not infested water from the Croix can do any harm once in the Woodbury storm drain system. Knowing that it drains into the same watershed it came from I cant imagine an issue. I assure you I will be careful if hitting other lakes but for the last few years my main fishing boat only floats in Croix or Miss.April 17, 2012 at 5:34 pm #1059772Quote:
I can answer that fishdale…
Suzuki is a criminal.
Ok, I stand corrected…he’s a good criminal.

I think this would be the reason that the DNR wants people to dump live wells at the landing. I know my storm sewer here in Eagan goes directly into a series of small lakes.
If you are interested where yours goes try the below link.
or just search for “Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District”
I still have not got my stickers so I guess shame on me. I need 4 of them so I should be a wealth of info after posting all of those.
Good luck fishing.
April 17, 2012 at 8:58 pm #1059856there was just an article in the Strib stating that surveys showed virtually no signs of zeebs in the stretch of the river called Lake St Croix. good news. i don’t know how to post the link but it was in the east metro section
April 17, 2012 at 9:29 pm #1059870OH NO! I may have infected Carver Lake and it doesnt even have a boat landing!
Seriously that was a good website and an eye opener. Thank you.fishdalePosts: 406April 17, 2012 at 9:33 pm #1059872Quote:

I don’t worry about it anymore cuz I got the new sticker……
On P4 Saturday at Baypoint, another group of “inspectors” wanted to check my rig for safety items (approx 15 minute inspection) and then give me ANOTHER *$@!*%-ing sticker to put on my boat to prove my rig was “safe.” Sorry for the French, but WTF! …ANOTHER STICKER?
In this case, I did not allow for the inspection – nor did I provide them an audience. Ultimately, I had to be outright rude and tell them to go away. They were not happy with me to say the least. Nevertheless, I have got to admit that I’ve had it with all these sticker clowns and it’s only April already.
Rant – Rant – RantIn a small way,… I feel better now.
Thanks.April 18, 2012 at 12:11 pm #1060027

Who??
Sheriff?
Coast Guard Auxilary?
DNR?
PHIGS?April 18, 2012 at 3:48 pm #1060118Hiawatha Valley Sail and Power Squadron.
They declared my boat safe except my horn didn’t work.
So they gave me a whistle…
Oh, and a nice fold up Mississippi Map Book, which i did like.April 18, 2012 at 4:48 pm #1060142I dont like the tone that’s being set. Now when I go fishing I have to worry about/expect a hassle from one fringe group or another. Simplicity is one of my major attractions to fishing. Relax, no hassle. Now the man is scrutizing the **** out of us.

I’m sorry, when they ask me to inspect my boat, I’ll be asking them the same about theirs.
…and I don’t have any whistles to hand out.
Yes, I know it’s in the name of safety, but if they really…really want to make the waters safe they should be checking the tuna boats. Not for structural safety, but for knowledge of the river rules.
April 18, 2012 at 10:28 pm #1060255I may have allowed it for a whistle,
but another freaking sticker to prove my rig is safe when inspected on the water/in the future by the C.G. ??
That’s their words, not mine.
….Forget it!April 19, 2012 at 1:49 am #1060306I got a written warning sunday afternoon pulling into the ramp area, If I take it out I forget to put that sucker back in
