Ok, it’s clear that i’ll go fishing any chance i get…

Taking an 8yo and a 62yo, neither of which have much casting experience.

And, i’d like them to catch something, anything.

So, i’m thinking of drifting with meat, both minnows and worms and have them suspend jigs just off the bottom.

I have to admit, that this is partly to test the new JUST INSTALLED rod holders, but really what method can be applied that requires little if any finesse?? (I think this applies to ALL of MY fishing as well)

FWIW – it sounds like there are some fish (and a few good ones) on sand right now… So tie on a Dubuque rig (3 way swivel w jig on low end (8 inches of 6 lb mono(breaks easy if snagged) and 3 ft (8 lb mono) trailer with hook (hook size should match the bait of choice. 4 is pretty univrsal for minners or worms)) and drift or slip the current. Keep the jig big enough so they feel bottom but light enough to prevent non-stop dredging up zeebs and sticks. 3/8 worked well a week ago. And of course there’s always the bobber technique. If you set up (anchor) above a current seam, this can be very effective. Good luck and very cool you are introducing a couple noobs to the world of fishing!

or 3 ways… long lining cranks shallow…. so many options, so little time!
