This year has been tough on walleyes from my section of the river. I havent had the size or numbers i usually expect to catch this time of year. However, last night proved me wrong. Started out by pulling slip rigs and were rewarded with quite a few fish, but nothing to size. Right around 6 we switched gears to trolling, and man am i glad we did! There was a pretty steady pod of active fish that we found and we picked em apart. We trolled firetiger and shad colored stickbaits at about 1-2.5mph. Actually, we seemed to have better luckj trolling in the upper 1mph range to 2mph range. All fish came from 15-25fow off of sand/rock flats or transistion areas. All fish were released except two perfect fryers!

Nice fish. I’m heading out this evening to do my first night bite on the river. I hope we have as good of luck.
