I dont understand it at all, doesnt the DNR work with the corps of engineers anymore? I found a spawning bed, about 30X40 just loaded with sauger and walleye the last few days. Been having a ball keeping the 15-16″ walleye and 13-15″ sauger and throwing the females back. Was fishing there today and noticed a barge coming from downriver, kept coming closer and closer until finally I moved. It was a Army Corps of Engineers dredging barge, he parked right on top the bed which is in about 8′ of water and put two big poles down into the bottom.. I assume they are going to dredge out the spawning beds.

Doesnt the DNR work with the corps anymore?

I doubt any of them know it is a bed. Maybe it is not normally, its a low water and low flow year. Do many of their decisions make sense to most of us?

Money talks… Shipping lanes are blocked, the rich owner is not happy so he lines someones pockets.

Who really knows? Sorry to hear your honey hole is gone.

More and more, I am not so much of a fan of the DNR. They enforce and instill more and more regs and fees on us, and just do the dumbest crap. Not happy with the whole Mille Lacs issue and the netting that is allowed, yet they punish us with smaller slots (different topic). I am just not so happy with the MN DNR as much anymore, and feel like I get a breath of fresh air whenever I go to Northern WI on certain weekends, and they have great, if not better fishing there. There’s so much I could argue…

No matter what the Corp or the DNR does…someone (group) is not going to be happy.

Thankless job would be an understatement.
