Fished this morning on the upper part of pool 2. Even very early morning water temps where 50 degrees. Not so good for trying to target this years prespawn walleyes but there are still some fish biting.

For walleyes we caught one small one that tackled a Pulse R’ paddle tail. That fish was not a lot bigger than the plastic. Caught a nice crappie at the dam on a Pulse R. Another ambitious fish. Had a couple of decent small mouth hit to. Did not get any white bass this trip but condition are shaping up real nice for them and we did find some nice ones feeding a few weeks back.

Not exactly the news I was looking for. I’ll be down there today after work. Considering that you didn’t do much up North, I’ll probably spend my time South. I kind of feel like I’m beating my head against a wall on p2 right now, but something has to give eventually. Hopefully, it’s the fish!

For a good walleye bite I think its going to have to wait until after the spawn now. Then again you never know. They could pop up tomorrow and start biting. The good thing is that like I said above there are other fish biting.

I spent Sunday afternoon fishing dams with 1 white bass to show for. I don’t know if the water temps coming up so fast have screwed up the spawn, but I talked to a buddy in Iowa, he had 58 degree temps. the fish he cleaned had eggs. I think its going to be a strange year.

been down the last 3 afternoons in a row and the its been slow in the walleye/sauger dept. compared to what 2 is usually like, caught fish everytime out but nothing real big got a 23″ on the second cast last night, tonight was very slow for walleyes but caught a couple slab crappies and a small channel. water temp was 54.3

A guy could always go fish the Pigs eye treatment plant discharge. There is always fish biting in there but its a tough place for me to fish knowing what is coming in the other end of that plant. Heard the pike where going well in there the other week.

I gave it a whirl this afternoon. One eye about 18″ on a shallow crank on rock. One silver bass. Three smallies. Three largies. Not much size on any of the fish. Bass fishing has been slower than I would have expected. I was getting a consistent 56 degrees when I pulled off at dark.

Good to hear you got a eye on a crank bait. I threw a couple on the boat last trip out but havent started using them yet. Temps sure are right for them but other than some three way trolling stick baits I dont usually use them this time of year. Then again what is typical about this year.
