I had the pleasure of taking my good friend Jim out with me for the shakedown cruise of my new Crestliner Fish Hawk 1750. We left Everts at ~ 10:30 and ran up to the dam along with most everyone else on the river (didn’t anybody have to work today??). While I has tinkering with the locator, Jim hooked this large male (21″) that we CPRd after Mr. Walter left a big milky gift for me on the carpet. If a walleye milts all over your boat on its first trip out, does that bode well for future fishing success? We got that fish on a chart jig/minnow combo in 18′. The rest of the day met with fits of minor successes, all from saugers in shallower water (12-16′) where the current wasn’t so strong (below the Y), mostly on jig/minnow with a couple on blue ringies/white tail. Seems like fish are beginning to fall back, as we saw boats strung all along the Minnesota shore well downstream of Everts. Water temp at 47 deg today. Tight lines everyone!
