03-16-12 Mississippi River Pool Four fishing is getting good, and with the great weather it is a real treat to float the boat right now!
We caught two limits of sauger yesterday in the 15 to 18 inch range and one large 21” fish released. This bite is far from at its peak and is really just starting. Best techniques have been trolling three ways with Rapala stickbaits, and vertical jigging, and dragging jigs.
When the water rises the large walleye will be coming shallow in the day and much more catchable. Right now the large walleyes are biting after dark on shallow sand.
Water clarity is dark, which usually makes the daytime bite great.
