P3?

Anybody fishing pool 3 yet? How about some reports. Would like to maybe head out this weekend.

I have been out on Pool 3 a few times in the last couple weeks and it has been very slow. Tried most of my favorite early spring spots with only a few fish to show for it.

Tonight just before sunset, a lot of ice from the Croix floated down through the confluence area. Some of the sheets were about 20′ across and the smaller pieces I picked up were about 2″-3″ thick. In the next few days, especially if we get some wind, a lot more ice could be coming through from the St. Croix. The ice could make fishing or just getting around difficult.

I wonder how much effect that ice melt off from the Croix and Pool 3 will have on the water temp dropping on pool 4. Last year it was brutal as the water temp dropped 4+ degrees in a day and high fast muddy flood water at the same time made it the toughest fishing I ever had at red wing.

Maybe it will not cause as much of a negative effect on pool 4 this time? At least it won’t be accompanied by high muddy flood water this year.

Any thoughts out there?
