Ok guy’s I’m just wondering ( before I buy weights) what kind or type is everyone using and does it really matter.I ‘ve been looking at all the styles and wondering about applications. I kow a lot of people use bells, but I was wondering why not a bank style, maybe a banana style, or inline. I know that the other ones may be a tad more money but was wondering if they might track better in the water, might not bounce as much, less resistance and who knows what else? I thought before I bought a bucket of weights from 1, —- 4 oz I would get some opinions. Thanks much Steve

Are most of you buying your weights, or do you pour your own? I have trouble finding bell sinkers heavier than one ounce. Any suggestions?
March 10, 2002 at 3:13 am #238669Try B and M Bait and Tackle on Hwy 63 going north out of Rochester. They have them all the way up to 5 oz. I believe. Also Brett King of H2O On The Go Tackle will be getting some heavier weights for his Quick Change System too. He will be at the Walleye Searchers Seminar that James and Tuck will be speaking at. His system will also be sold at the EFN Store too. Congrats on your Tournament win today too. Nate and Bill
March 10, 2002 at 3:19 am #238670The H20 Quick Change Weight System also has ”Clip On Weights” that will work great for getting crankbaits or even live bait rigs down towards the bottom too. Nate and Bill

I think it was Big Dad who won the tournament today, I know for sure it wasn’t Big B. I’m on call for work this weekend and stuck in IA. With the weather the way it is maybe that ain’t so bad after all. LOL! Thanks …….B
March 10, 2002 at 6:47 pm #238684Sorry about that Big B and Big Dad. I saw Big and automaticly thought of Big Dad as my mind must of still been frozen. Bill
March 10, 2002 at 6:57 pm #238685That’s ok Bill – with this newfound notoriety, I need to have someone else mistaken for me. maybe time to change my id?
lolMarch 10, 2002 at 7:10 pm #238686Does anyone have any answers to my original post on this thread. LOL
Here’s another question for you I called Fleet Farm and all they carry is spiderline. They don’t carry spiderwire. Is there a differance for the 30 lb test 6 lb size in moss green boy that was confusing when I called . I thought the package said spiderline in big letters across the center and towards bottom of package it says spiderwire. Is spiderwire the maker of spiderline that a lot of you guys are useing for three ways, verticle jigging and trollling.Someone please look on your package for me. Thanks SteveMarch 10, 2002 at 7:15 pm #238688Leinieman,
The line you are talking about is the exact same line I fish with. I think last year they changed the labeling, or it could have been the year before. Give it a shot! When used in the right applications, this line is great stuff!

I’d advise, strongly, against using SpiderWire for vertical jigging. Applications on spinning reels just don’t turn out real well. Go for Fireline in those instances. For trolling though, SpiderWire is the toughest stuff going.
March 10, 2002 at 7:49 pm #238692Ok James what do you think about weights in the original post on the thread and how about you Dustin.
Maybe you guy’s could make a list of your favorites. James and Dustins line for trolling, line for verticle jigging(abu garcia rod and abu garcia levelwind) ,line for three ways, same rigs and finally line for spinning rods and spinnning reels. Here’s another one for you James what syle were those spinning reels we used Fin Nor 2000 or 3000? Thanks SteveMarch 10, 2002 at 8:46 pm #238696I usually stick with the standard bell sinklers for most applications that I use. I have never messed around with the pencil type sinkers and so forth like that. I have used bottom bouncers on the river and I must say I do like the bell sinkers a lot better. The bouncers take some getting use to and messing around with. I do use them for certain presentations in late summer and early fall.
Line for trolling cranks, would deffinately be the Spiderwire Braid. Extra tuff stuff for tuff situations. Reel, the Diawa line counters are hard to beat. For deep vertical jigging and dragging jigs I like the fireline. Spider wire Braid does not work on a spining reel! I highly recomend not using on spinning gear. For casting and shallow water jigging I like the hi vis 6lb XT solar, on a 6’6″ St Croix avid spinning rod. I recently purchashed the new Abu Garcia Endeur reel and so far so good.
For 3-ways I use the Spiderwire braid and fireline. I like them both for 3-waying.
I hope I have answered all of your questions! If not ask away.
