I can give you my report but that’d be a bunch of useless what not to do information. How’d everyone else do ? As many people were out yesterday I thought reports would be up everywhere. We pulled, pitched, jigged and pulled some more to find an extremely tough bite. Someone had to get on ’em ??? Other than the guys we seen vertical jigging plastics…….

P.S. Anyone other than me find the trailer behind the 4-wheeler hauling people around at Everts funny. First thing that came to my mind was “there’s nothing like a redneck wedding”
March 12, 2012 at 9:58 am #1048407Not a pool 4 report..today I fished a couple pools south and found a tough bite as well compared to last weekends outing.
last weekends outing.. first or the year for me and new water as well yeiled limits of eaters with one female released pushing 20 inches
Dragging hair tipped with minnow was the ticket..being I just nedded to get the Mojo going..Yesterday..I focused on dragging plastics in same area..mini moxi chartchuse orange core put 4 keppers in the cooler..
The wind against current made it a little tricky for maintaining good boat control but overall from looking around we did better than average …lots if shorts also..tried pitching some seams as well …marked a few good fish on the back side of a wingie..as time to leave hour approached..
Will visit these girls at a later date…cupspitsPosts: 308March 12, 2012 at 11:07 am #1048415Bite was the toughest I Have ever seen that should change soon though
March 12, 2012 at 12:02 pm #1048435jesse, was out fri and sat pitching blades and plastics shallow all over looking for the big bite and chose not to fish sun because it was sooooo SLOW……with that said im hoping this rain will turn them on, might have to give them a shot tonight

don’t forget about the folgers coffee can tip jar duck taped to the back of the weeler
March 12, 2012 at 1:08 pm #1048454Was out on 4 this weekend very slow for us also cant beat the weather
March 12, 2012 at 1:14 pm #1048456I spent the majority of the weekend putting a few break in hours on the motor but the fishing we did was pretty slow.
We need some better flow to really get the bite going in my opinion. Should be here soon though!
March 12, 2012 at 1:38 pm #1048461I don’t feel quite so bad then—-we fished ALL day Saturday for 8 legals. The short fish were everywhere but finding anything of size was a struggle.
March 12, 2012 at 1:44 pm #1048464Bite was slow for us also! 4 guys and 2 boats and we only ended up w/ 3 saugs around 15″ on saturday from 2 till dark from Everts to the dam. There were plenty of 13 and under throw backs willing to bite. Meat on hair worked better than plastics. Went south of Red Wing on sunday and came up empty all after noon. That seat behind the wheeler sure was comfy and made a smooth ride!
March 12, 2012 at 2:36 pm #1048498Took the “new to me” boat out for it’s maiden voyage yesterday. MAN!!! I love my new ride. Fishes like a dream!!!
The weather was Awesome to say the least!! Fishing however was slow. We fished from 11:30 to around 7:00. 3 of us kept 7 saugers, caught maybe 40 fish total. 20-30 fow up by the dam for most of the day. Pulled 3-ways for about an hour with no takers.Said Hello to WalleyeJoe late afternoon.
March 12, 2012 at 2:55 pm #1048502Slow for us too on Saturday. Ended up with 5 keepers, but the bite picked up towards evening.
March 12, 2012 at 3:02 pm #1048503Slow would be a good description of the bite for us on Sunday. Between 3 of us we got zero.
Fortunately we found some catfish early in the day, so it wasn’t a total bust.
I always said I wanted to hit pool 4 for those spring walleyes. I guess now I can scratch that off the list.
March 12, 2012 at 3:51 pm #1048524We were between the dam and Everts Fri and Sat. Got a 10lber within an hour of being there . Nothing but dinks after that. Even stayed a couple hours past dark. Sat played bumper boats at the dam and down around the Y. Plenty of dinks, 5 over 15″ and a 20lb cat that was snagged in the pectoral fin with the stinger hook. Went down to Hay Creek and the water was 5 degrees warmer but no takers. Good to see Evert’s buzzin again. Some kid just randomly walked up to me there and said “my dad’s friend got a 27 1/2 incher”. And then he walked away. Didn’t even bother going out Sunday, we were fished out. Orange was by far the best color for us on hair or plastics.

Not that I know anything about walleyes, but I don’t think they know it’s spring yet.

Over the years everyone made it look so easy that even a Pug could do it. I guess I know better now. Hopefully we get the trolling motor fixed up by the time the females realize it’s time to pack on some extra eggs for the spawn.By the way, the ride in the throne was fun. Next time I am going to ask him to go up and down Evert’s one time.
I should stop posting. Didn’t Mr Schultz say we post too much or something? That’s what my ears heard, anyway.
March 12, 2012 at 5:13 pm #1048563Same type of report from me for Friday night. Ok, now that we all feel better…………….
WHERE ARE THE FISH?
The weeks and nearly a month leading up to the FYB was some of the best P4 fishing I’ve ever had. Now all of a sudden nothing? Bunch of shorts and a stray fish here and there?
Are they shallow? Suspended? They jump over the dam into P3? Swim up the Vermillion?
The rivers not high enough for them to get into the trees, so where do you target next?
March 12, 2012 at 5:15 pm #1048565When you hear the words “the bite is stupid crazy” that means you’ll snag a few Pug.
PS thanks for reminding me about the thorne ride. I owe Dan $20 bucks.
March 12, 2012 at 5:19 pm #1048567Note to others.
Yeah, the bite was crappy for most, but at least YOU were on the water!
The highlight of my day was Mendota Eye bringing in 7 layer bars. I think he said I shouldn’t share because there were only 10 of them.
March 12, 2012 at 5:25 pm #1048569Fished north of the dam yesterday and managed 5 eyes 2 were 16″ and 1..16″ sauger. The fish we found were in the 22′-25′ range. Chartruse was the go to color just dragging the bottom. Water was 38 degrees. Good luck.
